Jack W. Hunter 1917-2002 Obituary

Jack W. Hunter, MD, FACS, 85, of 311 S. Main St., Webster Springs, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Webster Memorial Hospital in Webster Springs. Death was attributed to heart failure.

He was born April 10, 1917, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Grant and Bertha Hunter.

He was married to LeMoine Hunter, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Tim Hunter and wife, Barbara, Buckhannon; one daughter, Sidney Rebecca Hunter, Columbus, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Mary Pooler and husband, Paul, Clayton, Ga.; two grandsons, Timothy Grant Hunter II, Buckhannon, and John F. Harper III, Summersville; two granddaughters, Heather LeMoine Bartholomew, Charleston, and Johna Mowlery, Morgantown; and two great-granddaughters, Abby Bartholomew and Cate Bartholomew, both of Charlotte, N.C.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Hester Hodges; and one brother, Ed Hunter.

He was a surgeon and served in the Navy. He was a member of the VFW Addison McLaughlin Post 3728, Webster Springs, life- time member of Buckhannon Elks Lodge 1736, American Medical Association, American College of Board of Surgeons and the NRA. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Buckhannon.

Friends will be received at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nelson Harris of Summersville officiating. Interment will follow in Heavener Cemetery in Buckhannon.
