Valentine C. Hinkle, Jr., 82, of Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs, and formerly of Selbyville, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Nella’s.
He was born April 15, 1920, at Alexander, a son of the late Valentine C. and Elsie Hosaflook Hinkle.
He was united in marriage in June 1939, to Joy McDaniels Hinkle, who preceded her in death on March 24, 1984.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Leonard Gillum of Cleveland, Ohio; and one son and daughter-in-law, Linden and wife, Helen Morgan Hinkle, of Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Lois Alderman of Buckhannon, Loeta Cutright of Cleveland, Ohio, and Luella VanGilder of Brook Park, Ohio; seven grandchildren, three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Mr. Hinkle was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery at Selbyville.
