Ruth E. Thompson Tacy, 83, a resident of 20 High St., Elkins, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Grover C. and Mota Coberly Thompson.
She was married to Cleo Tacy, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Grover A. “Bill” Tacy and fiance, Kathy, of Crofton, Md.; two daughters, Barbara Martin Watts and husband, John, of Elkins, and Maria “Cookie” Dale and husband, Donald, of Fayetteville, Pa.; two brothers, Bert D. Thompson and Frank Thompson, both of Beverly; one son-in-law, Neil Arnold, Fredricksburg, Va.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Tacy Arnold; and one grandson Kristopher Taylor.
Mrs. Tacy owned and operated Whiteway Produce for 30 years until her retirement in 1976. She was an active member of the Democratic Committee of Randolph County for many years and a member of the Randolph County Senior Center. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church near Beverly.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville.
