Reitz J. Sayres, 82, a resident of 308 Glendale Ave., Elkins, and a resident of Colonial Place, passed away at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Colonial Place.
He was born Jan. 30, 1920, at Baxter, a son of the late Audrey M. and Helen Elizabeth Stark Sayres.
He was married to Etta Bee Sayres, who preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2002.
He is survived by one brother, James Ray Sayres of Elkins; one sister, Mary Virginia Shields of Bridgeport; one nephew, James R. Sayres Jr. of Elkins; and one niece, Linda K. Teter of St. Albans.
Mr. Sayres served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He was employed as an electrician for Lockheed Martin Energy Systems prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club, Local No. 689 Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers and the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Ohio.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel. Dr. Ellis E. Conley and the Rev. Walter H. Blough will officiate and interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery at Bridgeport.
