Joshua Carl Starnes, 16, of Dry Fork, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2002, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born April 15, 1986, in Elkins, a son of Carl Edward Starnes of McHenry, Md., and Tresa Ann Bennett of Dry Fork.
He is survived by his grandparents, Mary White Starnes of Spartanburg, S.C., David Bennett of Glenmore, and Rheba Bennett of North Ridgeville, Ohio; one half brother, Steven Michael Vance, at home; and one half sister, Randa Lei Vance, at home.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carl N. Starnes.
He attended Tucker County High School, where he participated in the weight lifting and conditioning class in preparation for the fall football season. He was an avid marksman. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and riding his four-wheeler. He was employed as a lifeguard at the Canaan Valley pool.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at Hinkle Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mike Lantz officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens in Elkins.
