Alma Waybright Long Paugh 1914-2002 Obituary
Alma Waybright Long Paugh, 87, a former resident of Parsons, and a more recent resident of Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins, departed this life Friday afternoon, June 14, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to heart failure.
She was born June 17, 1914, at Oceola, a daughter of the late Don Waybright and Ira Bell Teter Waybright.
She was twice married. First, she married Paul B. Long, who preceded her in death. Second, she married Earl Paugh, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are five sons, Frank Long and Robert Long and wife, Rita, all of Parsons, Lee Long and Paul Douglas Long and wife Virginia, all of Hendricks, and Dennis Long and wife, Joyce, Bremen, Ohio; five daughters, Pauline Carr and husband, Lewis, Hendricks, Ruby Huffman and husband, Robert, Dry Fork, Kathleen J. Eye, Anchorage, Alaska, Trudy Helmick and husband, Russell, Hendricks, and Nancy Weitzel, Mesopotamia, Ohio; five sisters, Freddie Bonner and husband, Thomas, Gladwyn, Eva Eye, Hendricks, Erma Gordon, Keyser, Lorraine Fowler and husband, Leanard, Paw Paw, and Shirley McBee, Bowden; 38 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren.
Preceding her in death are two sons, Boyd Long and Stephen Dewayne Long; five brothers, Carl, Willard, Sturl, Earl and Andrew Waybright; and two sisters, Edith Long and Corneal Waybright.
She attended the one room Shavers Mountain School. She was an employee of the former Nella’s Nursing Home at the White Gables location in Parsons. She attended the Riverview Chapel Church at Porterwood and was a Protestant.
Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. On Tuesday, Mrs. Paugh will be moved to Riverview Chapel Church at Porterwood where friends may call from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Pastor Dick Gadd will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons.
