Freda Frances Fitzwater Sturdivant, 70, a lifelong resident of Norton, departed this life at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health for the past year.
She was born Friday, Feb. 5, 1932, at Norton, a daughter of the late Mason M. “Jock” Fitzwater and Ethel Naoma Weese.
Surviving are one son, Bradley N. Sturdivant and wife, Donna M., Madison, Va.; two daughters, Janet L. Strawder, Westlake, Ohio, and Constance L. “Connie” Meredith and husband, Charles H., Glen Allen, Va.; three brothers, the Rev. Donald L. Fitzwater, Beverly, Gary N. Fitzwater, Elkins, and Kenneth Fitzwater, Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Geneva A. Stevenson, Norton; one granddaughter, Cayla M. Sturdivant; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Fitzwater; and one sister, Jean Yoder.
She attended the Norton Grade School and Coalton High School. She was a seamstress working for Reidbord Brothers, and formerly attended the Norton Community Church.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Donald L. Fitzwater will officiate and interment will follow at Elkins Memorial Gardens at Elkins.
