William Ross Robinson Sr., 93, a resident of Hannahsville, and a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Tuesday morning, May 28, 2002, at the nursing home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Feb. 10, 1909, at St. George, a son of the late Jacob Robinson and Alice Miller Robinson.
On Nov. 16, 1929, he was married to Tillie Ann Snider, who preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, James Edward Robinson and wife, Phyllis, Centerville, Ohio, and William Ross Robinson Jr. and wife, Cathy, Hannahsville; two daughters, Gladys Moore, Centerville, Ohio, and Virginia Ruth Bohon and husband, Eugene, Hannahsville; one foster daughter, Patricia “Patty” Gower and husband, Don, Canal Fulton, Ohio; one brother, Guy Robinson, Williamson; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Lee Robinson; one brother, Russell Robinson; one half brother, Ernest Miller; five sisters, Flossie Nestor, Lessie Root, Millie Gradstaff, Strada Compton and Lula Shahan; and one son-in-law, Beckham Moore.
He attended the Robinson Hill one room school at St. George. He was a member of the Macedonia Methodist Church at Hannahsville. He was a sawer with Interstate Lumber Co. for many years and retired from Hinchcliff Lumber Co. at Hendricks.
Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at Limestone Cemetery at St. George.
