Mabel M. Shreve, 82, of Elyria, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, after a brief illness at her home.
She was born May 24, 1919, in Beverly.
She graduated from Beverly High School in 1936. She has been a resident of Elyria since 1954. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening and bingo.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert H. Shreve; five sons, Gary Townsend, Litchfield, Ohio, Richard Shreve and John Shreve, both of Elyria, Ohio, Marshall Shreve, Grafton, Ohio, and Hubert Shreve, Pennsylvania; four daughters, Janice Wamsley, Valley Bend, Mary Heaton, Leah Simms and Nora Hudson, all of Elyria, Ohio; three sisters, Grace Hinzman, Valley Bend, Freda Straley, Mill Creek, and Ruth Jones, Coalton; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mozella Griffith Simmons; one sister, Juanita Lewis; and two brothers, Bo Lewis and John Simmons.
Friends will be received Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, Ohio. Services for the family will be at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assoc., 1689 East 115 St., Cleveland, Ohio 44106-3988.
