Howard W. Wanless, 72, of Bedford Heights, Ohio, and of Buckhannon, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Bedford Heights, Ohio.
He was born June 29, 1929, in Centralia, a son of the late Robert Lee and Maude Marie Holden Wanless.
He married Glenna M. Crawford Wanless of Bedford Heights, Ohio, and of Buckhannon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Kenneth Wanless, Bedford Heights, Ohio; one sister, Mary Louise Enzti, Newton Falls, Ohio; four brothers, Gordon and wife, Elsie Wanless, Rockledge, Fla., James and wife, Harriett Wanless, Canton, Ohio, Camden and wife, Anita Wanless, Newton Falls, Ohio, and Perry Michael and wife, Mary Ann Wanless, Warren, Ohio; and one granddaughter, Amanda Jo Lorene Wanless, Bedford Heights, Ohio.
He was a chemistry and math teacher in West Virginia, Richmond Heights and Cleveland Schools at JFK and John Adams High Schools. He worked as a chemist at Koppers, Inc. in Pittsburgh and Lear Siegler in Maple Heights. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952. He enjoyed electronics and fishing. Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Upshur County Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett American Legion Post 7.
