Homer Warren Howes, 75, of Route 2, French Creek, the Evergreen community, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 2, 2002, at his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Mr. Howes was born May 14, 1926, in Evergreen, a son of the late William A. and Sophronia Phillips Howes.
On Sept. 20, 1947, he married Betty Jean Loudin Howes, who survives at Evergreen.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, David Howes and wife, Janet, Eagle Rock, Va., Kevin Howes and wife, Cheryl, and Mark Howes and wife, Kathy, all of French Creek; six daughters, Charlotte McCann and husband, Stanford, Janice Cain and husband, Terry, Robyn McCann and husband, Ronnie, Alice Cain and husband, Laird, Laurie Young and husband, John, and Angela Fassett and husband, Greg, all of French Creek; three sisters, Arlene Friend, Buckhannon, and Blanche Howes and Beryl Loudin, both of Ohio; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first son, Donald Warren; his mother and father, two brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Howes served in the U.S. Army in German. He was a mechanic with Koon’s Welding in Buckhannon.
Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in Waterloo Cemetery.
