Delbert R. Baxa, 92, of Route 1, French Creek, the Brooks Hill Community, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
He was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Eden, a son of the late Franklin and Mamie Bennett Baxa.
He married Pearl V. Gregory Baxa, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are one brother, Arie Baxa, Buckhannon; one sister, Icie Baxa Rice, Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Howard, Sherman, Roy and Johnny Baxa; and two sisters, Clara Curkendall and Vergie Watkins.
He had been employed at Huttonsville Correctional Center in Huttonsville, and the late Alexander Band Mill Co. of Alexander. He was a retired farmer. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Brooks Hill United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Baxa Cemetery at Eden.
