Van Buren “Hade” Lanham, 91, of Route 2, Mill Creek, died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Lanham was born Feb. 18, 1910, in Hemlock, a son of the late Harman and Rebecca Wamsley Lanham.
On April 16, 1934, in Hemlock, he married Icie Currence Lanham, who survives in Mill Creek.
Also surviving are four sons, Margel Lanham and wife, Naomi, Mill Creek, Lyde “Doc” Lanham and wife, Ronetta, Ravenna, Ohio, Buddy Lanham and wife, Shirley, Mill Creek, and Donald Kelmar Lanham and wife, Cindy, Valley Bend; four daughters, Virginia Snyder and companion Dice Harper, Mill Creek, Mrs. Richard (Thelma) Haney, Valley Head, Mary Catherine Lanham, at home, and Mrs. Dixie (Barbara Sue) Sutton, Mill Creek; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wade Lanham; two daughters, Yvonne Marie Lanham and Wanda Jean Lanham; five brothers, Bert, Walker, Perry, Seymour and Parley Lanham; and three sisters, Leva Scott, Allia Tenney and Ruby Lloyd.
Mr. Lanham was a retired woodsman and a member of Memorial Mission Church in Mill Creek.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, Mr. Lanham will be moved to Memorial Mission Church in Mill Creek, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Frank Long, the Rev. Ralph Summerfield and the Rev. William “Wink” Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery near Mill Creek.
