Edna C. Friend, 89, of Amherst, Ohio, and formerly of Thomas, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Friends was born May 13, 1912, in Thomas, a daughter of the late George and Mona King Caplinger.
She married Hartsel Friend, who preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are a son, Don Friend, Lorain, Ohio; a daughter, Kathy Gibson, Lorain, Ohio; a sister, Ethel Brown, Monongah; and three stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Caplinger; and two sisters, Muriel Kelley and Mary Smith.
Mrs. Friend was a housewife. She was a member of Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church of Lorain, Ohio.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Home Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Graveside services will be at Upshur County Memorial Park Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 400 6th St., Lorain, Ohio 44052 or Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church, 658 E. Erie, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
