Edra Ruth Fleming, 66, of Route 3, Buckhannon, the Lick Run road, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. Death was attributed to cancer.
Mrs. Fleming was born April 10, 1935, in Kanawha Head, a daughter of the late Loy A. and Opal M. Helmick Crawford.
On Dec. 20, 1953, she married Hubert H. “Tommy” Fleming, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dr. Hubert L. Fleming, Philadelphia, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Pam Fleming, Glenmore, Pa.; a daughter, Debbie Dean and son-in-law, Gary Dean, Buckhannon; three brothers, Dr. French Crawford, Parkersburg, Kenneth Crawford, Kanawha Head, and the Rev. Johnnie Crawford, Elyria, Ohio; two sisters, Kay Rumph, Elyria, Ohio, and Cosbie Fisher, Kanawha Head; three granddaughters, Jaime Fleming, a sophomore at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., Megan Fleming, a freshman at Westchester College in Westchester, Pa., and Amanda Fleming, Glenmore, Pa.; two grandsons, Joshua Dean, Buckhannon, and Ben Fleming, Glenmore, Pa.; two stepgrandchildren, Jeff and Shelly Dean; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Escar Crawford; and a sister, Lydia Holbrook.
Mrs. Fleming retired from Upshur County school system after 31 years of service. She was a Christian and attended Good Hope Tabernacle.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at noon with Pastor Holly J. Hoover and the Rev. Johnnie Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens.
