Evelyn B. Vandevander, 89, of Riverton, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, in Helene Fuld Hospital in Trenton, N.J., following an automobile accident in New Jersey.
Mrs. Vandevander was born Jan. 29, 1912, in Riverton, a daughter of the late Jacob Elmer Lambert and Maggie Hedrick.
She was twice married. First, she married Russell Lantz, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1967. Second, she married Bryan Vandevander, who preceded her in death in 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Phares, Cinnaminson, N.J.; a son, Jerry Wayne Lantz, Petersburg; a brother, Lynn Lambert, Newark, Ohio; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Estyl Lambert, Ivai Lambert and Cam Lambert; and two sisters, Tina Snodgrass and Myrtle Nelson.
Mrs. Vandevander retired in 1980 as the postmaster in Riverton. She was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Riverton United Methodist Church today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Barbara Rexrode officiating. Interment will follow in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton. Memorial donations may be made to Pendleton County Rescue Squads or Riverton United Methodist Church. Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.
