Curtis Ford Calhoun, 90, of Petersburg, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in Grant County Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since April 10, 2000.
Mr. Calhoun was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Brushy Run, a son of the late Martin Dow Calhoun and Rachel Ann Graham Calhoun.
He was twice married. First, he married Ruby Cowger Calhoun, who preceded him in death in 1977. Second, on June 26, 1985, he married Doris M. Carbaugh Calhoun, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Marlin W. Calhoun and wife, Ada, Cleveland, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Judy A. Reedy and husband, Hurley, Moorefield; three sisters, Kate Alt, Landes, Lillian Miller, Harrisonburg, Va., and Bessie Hevener, Mt. Crawford, Va.; two brothers, Olin Calhoun and Quentin Calhoun, Upper Tract; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepgranddaughter, Debra Ann Reedy; four brothers, Isaac Scott Calhoun, Elbridge I. Calhoun, Otha Carl Calhoun and Verlie Don Calhoun; and two sisters, Lydia Mabel Calhoun and Vernie Riggleman.
Mr. Calhoun retired in 1976 from the Frank Wilson Lumber Co. in Elkins.
He was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Schaeffer Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Glen Hamric officiating. Interment will follow in Kline Cemetery in Kline. Memorial contributions may be made to Grant County Nursing Home, 27 Early Ave., Petersburg, W.Va. 26847 or charity of choice.
