Evelyn Cross, 84, of 207 Willey St., Weston, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at her residence.
Miss Cross was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Arden, a daughter of the late Fred L. and Verna Mitchell Cross.
Surviving are two sisters, Audra Murphy, Maple Avenue, Philippi, and Ruth Murphy, Byrer Street, Philippi; a nephew, a niece, a great-niece, a great-nephew and a great-great-nephew.
Miss Cross was a 1938 graduate of Philippi High School and a graduate of West Virginia Business College in Clarksburg. She worked for Barbour County Rationing Board during World War II until its closing. She then worked in the office of the Department of Highways in Weston until her retirement a few years ago. She had been a member of Arden United Methodist Church since her teen years.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, today after 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Clemtown Cemetery.
