Helen Fretwell Twigg, 85, a native of Valley Head, formerly of Cumberland, Md., and more recently of 514 Dale Drive, Fayetteville, N.C., died at 4:03 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.
Mrs. Twigg was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Valley Head, a daughter of the late Charles Jennings Fretwell and Sylvia E. Ware Fretwell.
She married Thurman Twigg, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Morris and husband, Sterling, Fayetteville, N.C.; three brothers, Merrill “John” Fretwell, Elkins, Robert Fretwell, Saint Albans, and Sylvester Fretwell, Monroe, Conn.; a sister, Mariam Collett, Elkins; a grandson, Brian Morris, Fayetteville, N.C.; and a great-grandson, Brandon Morris, Fayetteville, N.C.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Uncas Laniere Fretwell; and a sister, Coleen Fretwell.
Mrs. Twigg had worked as a waitress.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Cumberland, Md.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Lohr-barb-vance Funeral Home today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Crickard officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
