Charles “Charlie” Delbert Hymes Sr., 67, of Monteo, N.C., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Health East Medical Center in Nags Head, N.C.
Mr. Hymes was born in Junior, a son of the late Delbert Frederick and Ethel Hammner Hymes.
He was a retired carpenter and attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Hendricks.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Ketterman Hymes of Monteo, N.C.; one daughter, Tammy Gayle Vulcano of Rices Landing, Pa.; one son, Charles “Chuck” D. Hymes Jr. and wife, Debbie of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; one sister, Beverly Hope Mitchell of Manteo, N.C.; and eight grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Alex, Brent, Joseph, Mathew, Michael and Jesse.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Y. Fitzwater; and one son, George L. Hymes.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received today from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteo, N.C. The family will be at the home of Chuck and Debbie Hymes at 525 Canal Dr., First Flight Village in Kill Devil Hills, N.C.
