Robert R. Long, 78, of 1539 Country Club, Fairmont, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Wishing Well Nursing Home in Fairmont.
Mr. Long was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Elkins, a son of the late Audra Ford Long and Margaret Beryl Chandler Long Courtney.
Surviving are two daughters, Dixie Eckert, Hooks, Texas, and Kitten Lee, Buckhannon; one brother, Max Long, Buckhannon; two sisters, Dixie Brumfield, Canton, Mich., and Betty Jane Lantz, New Hope, Va.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hunter Audra Long; and one son, Randy Layne Long.
Mr. Long was a mechanic at a bus garage. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a life time member of Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Graveside services were held at Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon with the chaplain of the VFW officiating. Interment will follow. The Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett Post 7, American Legion will conduct military honors at the graveside.
