Douglas F. Doug Loftin 1938-2002 Obituary
Douglas F. “Doug” Loftin, 64, a resident of the Montrose community, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 10:41 a.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Feb. 17, 1938, at Rockville, Md., a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Mable Maude Aldridge Loftin.
On June 25, 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Karen Mills, who survives at Montrose. They would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on the 25th of this month.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jasen (Kristie) Loftin-milhoan of Montrose, and Jessica L. Loftin, at home; four sisters, Martha Tolbert of Pulaski, Va., Betty Magruder of Annapolis, Md., Dorothy Kirkley of Maryland, and Barbara Loftin of Bethesda, Md.; one brother, Grover C. Loftin of Alliance, Ohio; several half brothers and sisters, Gurney Loflin, Conrad Loflin, Katherine, Bobbie and Dorothy; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents is one brother, Roger Loftin.
Doug was a heavy equipment operator, a truck driver and had been employed at various mining companies. He was last employed as a mining supervisor at the Northern Reclamation Co.
He loved the outdoors and especially working on the farm. He was a Baptist by faith.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Saturday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel on Sunday at 1 p.m. Pastor Kevin Gainer of the Refuge Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Montrose Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Montrose.
