Betty J. Jones Confere, 62, of Arlington Community, Rock Cave, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at home, where she was under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice and the Upshur County Senior Center.
She was born Oct. 13, 1939, in Gaines, a daughter of the late William C. Lewis and the late Matilda J. Lee Lewis.
She is survived by her former husband, Jack Jones and preceded in death by her late husband the late George Confere.
Surviving are four daughters, Brenda Kay Alderman of Akron, Ohio, Tammy Renne Samples and Betty Jean Jones, both of Buckhannon, and Jackie Ann Nido of Cleveland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Jacqueline Lindow, Debbie Blum, Billie Jo Jeffries, G.W. Blum, Juana Claypool, Pam Maxwell, B.J. Samples, Kayla Samples, Josh Jones, Jade Jones, Charles Sines and Natasha Sines; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Leggitt, Bradley Leggitt, Vanessa Sines, Ashton Rochette Maxwell and Brooklyn Dakota Maxwell; four stepchildren, Dave Confere of Ohio, Tom Confere of Adrian, Mike Confere of Buckhannon, and Margaret Ann Gregory of French Creek; one brother, Earl Jack Lewis of Buckhannon; two sisters, Rose Fidler of Buckhannon, and Ruth Fidler of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Lewis; and three brothers, Joe Lewis, Clyde Lewis and Abe Lewis.
She was a retired finish presser for Tramar Cleaners of Buckhannon.
Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Carol Duffield officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Dale Cemetery at Selbyville.
