David C. Kingslake -2002 Obituary

David C. Kingslake, 65, a 20-year resident of Tucker County, Red Creek, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at his home in Canaan Valley.

He is survived by his mother and father, Rudolph and Hilda Kingslake of Rochester, N.Y.; his wife, Joan Kingslake of Norristown, Pa.; his friend, Dorothy Demboski of Canaan Valley; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann; and his brother, Alan.

He was a graduate of Lehigh University. He was a founder and past president of The Art Company of Davis.

He was an award winning designer-craftsman specializing in fine wood working, furniture and bowed psaltries. His work is represented in the permanent collection of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and other private collections and institutions.

His awards include Award of Excellence, West Virginia Juried Exhibition 1993 and 1995, and Award of Excellence, Crosscurrents in 1992.

He was a frequent exhibitor in numerous craft shows in the Mid Atlantic region, including The West Virginia Art and Craft Fair at Ripley, and the Mountain State Art and Craft at Harpers Ferry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice Inc., 1410 Crim Ave., Belington, W.Va. 26250. A celebration of his life will be held in August.
