Olive A. Godfrey 1908-2002 Obituary
Olive A. Godfrey, 93, of 233 Randolph St., Buckhannon, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs.
Mrs. Godfrey was born Aug. 21, 1908, in Braxton County, a daughter of the late Charles and Alice Evans McNemar.
On July 10, 1927, she married Dorsey P. Godfrey, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1985.
Surviving are one son, Kennard Godfrey, Pentress; one sister, Wanda M. Thompson, Buckhannon; seven grandsons, Kenny Godfrey, Pentress, Allen Godfrey, Jack Godfrey, West Mifflin, Pa., Edward Godfrey, Buckhannon, Richard Godfrey, Palm Bay, Fla., David Carpenter, Grafton, and Ronald Carpenter, Bridgeport; 15 grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Leaseburge and Mary Robinson; and five brothers, Guy McNemar, Earl McNemar, Lawrence McNemar, Dorsey McNemar and Harvey McNemar.
Mrs. Godfrey was manager at Colonial Theater. She was a Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
