Ruth Ailee Matthew, 83, a patient in Holbrooks Nursing Home in Buckhannon, and a former resident of Huttonsville, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born March 1, 1919, at Valley Head, a daughter of the late John Newton and Mini Mae Louk Ware.
She was married to Howard E. Matthew, who is a patient in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.
Also surviving are three sons, Howard Keith Matthew and wife, Jane, of Huttonsville, Denver Clyde Matthew and wife, Glenda, of Chenoweth Creek, and Carroll Don Ware and wife, Jo, of Huttonsville; one daughter, Eileen Kay Hickox and husband, Tom, of Rossiter, Pa.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Matthew was a homemaker and a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 103 of Huttonsville. She attended the Mill Creek United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Huttonsville Rebekah Lodge No. 103 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Verl Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville.
