George Arnett Dean, 92, of Route 4, Box 391, Buckhannon, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
Mr. Dean was born April 12, 1910, in Buckhannon, a son of the late William and Ida Mae Mick Dean.
On Dec. 24, 1929, he married Zelda Wolfe Dean, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two daughters, Edith Kelly and husband, Walter, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Joanne Scruggs and husband, Lonnie, Chesapeake, Va.; three sons, George Edward Dean, Buckhannon, Larry Dean, Culpeper, Va., and Gale and wife, Linda Dean, Duck, N.C.; one son-in-law, Dalton Tenney, Baltimore, Md.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine Tenney; one sister, Ava Nelly; one brother, Bonita “Jim” Dean; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Dean was an asphalt plant superintendent for Black Rock Inc. He attended Mount Rupert United Methodist Church in Upshur County.
Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Rupert Cemetery in Buckhannon.
