Sebert J. Bodkins, 85, a resident of Valley Head, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 9, 2002, in Nella’s Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born May 6, 1917, at Flint, the son of the late James Edward and Attie White Bodkins.
He had never married.
He is survived by three brothers, Wilmoth Bodkins and Ronald Joe Bodkins, both of Valley Head, and Harold Bodkins, Beaufort, S.C.; five sisters, Margaret Lantz, Buckhannon, Hallie Fedowich, Long Island, N.Y., Carrie Thompson, New Port Richey, Fla., Mary Smith, Duncan, S.C., and Sharon Bodkins, Benedict, Md.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Eugene and an infant brother; and three sisters, Edith, Opal and Virginia.
Mr. Bodkins was employed as a night watchman for Bethlehem Steel’s Hickory Lick Mines at Monterville for several years.
He attended the Friendship Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Ralph Summerfield will officiate and interment will follow in the Valley Head Cemetery.
