Douglas H. Krantz, 53, a resident of 317 Davis St., Elkins, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, Aug. 15, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency department.
He was born July 21, 1949, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., a son of Howard Krantz of North Tonawanda, N.Y., and the late Clara Weber Krantz.
He was married to Judith Gaul Krantz, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are five sons, Gregory Krantz and Vycki of Linesville, Pa., Timothy Krantz and Kevin Krantz, both of Elkins, Patrick Krantz of New Wilmington, Pa., and Benjamin Krantz of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; three sisters, Paula Caterina, Niagara Falls, N.Y., Mary Freeman and Patricia McGee, both of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Summer Jane, Mandy, Grace, Lainey and Noah.
Mr. Krantz attended the schools of New York and graduated from Gannon University in Erie, Pa. He was a member of the National Guard for six years. He was employed by Kmart Corporation for 22 years and served as manager of the Elkins Kmart Store. He was currently employed as loan officer for the Mountain Valley Bank at Mill Creek. He was involved in many community activities in the Elkins area and was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A prayer service will be recited at 7 p.m. today from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Father William Anderson presiding. On Saturday, Mr. Krantz will be moved to St. Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father William Anderson will be the presider and interment will follow in St. Brendan Cemetery.
