Matthew Bryant Barr, 16, a resident of the Cherry Fork Road, Montrose, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident on Route 219 near Montrose
He was born Sept. 3, 1985, at Elkins, a son of Libby and Len Chidester of Montrose, and Nevil and Cindy Barr of Mississippi.
Also surviving are one brother, Michael Barr, Mississippi; his stepsister, Millie Barr, Mississippi; his maternal grandmother, Mary Nucilli, Elkins; his maternal great-grandmother, Leona Stevenski of Grafton; his paternal grandmother, Betty Barr, Mississippi; his steppaternal grandmother, Mary Chidester, Mill Creek; six uncles, Mike and Carl Nucilli, both of Elkins, Jim Nucilli, Martinsburg, Rob Nucilli, Fairmont, David Barr, Alabama, and Ronald Barr, Mississippi; his special great-uncle, Joe Nucilli, Elkins; and his special friend, Chad Chidester, Elkins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Michael Dominic Nucilli; his paternal grandfather, Nevil Barr; and his steppaternal grandfather, Virgil Chidester Sr.
He was a sophomore at Elkins High School and was currently employed at Hardee’s Restaurant of Elkins. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, riding fourwheelers and motorcycling, playing Nintendo, watching movies and caring for his dogs, Bella, Goldie, Grizzly and Daisy.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The casket will remain closed. On Monday morning, he will be moved to Saint Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Father William Anderson will be the presider and interment will follow at Saint Brendan Catholic Cemetery at Elkins.
