Donald Edward McLean, 35, of 308 Walnut St., Belington, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Death was attributed to injuries and complications of a single-vehicle accident which occurred Aug. 3, near the Barbour-harrison County line on state Route 20.
He was born April 26, 1967, at Philippi, a son of Virgie Geneva Ware McLean, who survives at 308 Walnut St., Belington, and the late Sterling McLean.
Also surviving are one son, Jerry Straughn, Philippi; three brothers, Roger Dale McLean and wife, Ellen, Ashburn, Va., Terry Wayne McLean and wife, Charlene, Philippi, and Timothy Neal McLean, Belington; one sister, Carmen Juanita Mallow and fiance, Randy Markley, Belington.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Deborah Anita McLean; his maternal grandparents, Lloyd Ware and Hazel Digman; and his paternal grandparents, Henry A. and Bertha Cross McLean.
Mr. McLean was a 1985 graduate of Philip Barbour High School, where he participated in football and baseball. He was a painter and construction laborer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was an avid sportsman. As a youth, he attended the Belington Church of the Nazarene.
Friends may call at Schoonover-stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
