Rev. James Matthew Fogg, 91, passed away at his home in Philippi, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002.
Rev. Fogg was born May 30, 1911, in Camden, N.J., the only son of the late Clarence Fox Fogg and Florence Mae Long Fogg.
He was married to Ida Lucille Lawrence, who preceded him in death on April 24, 2002.
Surviving are sons, Lawrence and Gerald; and daughter, Sarah Lu; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Rev. Fogg was a graduate of Camden High School, the University of Richmond, Crozer Theological Seminary, and West Virginia University graduate school. He was a civil engineer for the New Jersey State Highway Department and the Army Corps of Engineers in Panama. He served pastorates in Virginia and West Virginia before joining the faculty of Alderson-broaddus College for 17 years. He continued as a land surveyor, interim pastor and preacher and was active in summer theater. He was a member of the Philippi Baptist Church for more than 40 years.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. He will lie in state at the Philippi Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Fogg will be buried Sunday in Windsor, Va., cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to DebRA of America, Inc., in care of Philippi Baptist Church.
