Virgil Quinten Dumire, 80, a resident of the Limestone community, St. George, departed this life Tuesday evening, Oct. 22, 2002, at Swisher’s Private Home Care in Elkins. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1923, at Limestone, a son of Clarence Dumire and Sara Miller Dumire.
On June 25, 1949, at Red House, Md., he was married to the former Wilda “Jean” Loughry, who survives. They had celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Also surviving are three brothers, Donald Dumire, Ohio, Harold Dumire, Michigan, and Richard Dumire and wife, Cindy, Michigan; two sisters, Elgene Sell, Michigan, and Lenora Wilkison, Ohio; and four nieces.
He attended the one-room school at Limestone. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Methodist.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Neil Parsons will officiate and interment will follow at Limestone Cemetery at St. George. The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
