Louis N. “Lou” Corder, Sr., 67, a resident of Nelson’s Mobile Home Court, Beverly, departed this life Tuesday morning, Nov. 26, 2002, at his home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Sunday, May 5, 1935, at Alpena, a son of the late Harold Vernon Corder and Mable Marie Farris Corder.
On Nov. 16, 1963, at Oil City, Pa., he married the former Hilda Jean Devlin, who preceded him in death, on Jan. 1, 1994.
On July 14, 2000, at Beverly, he was married to the former Betty Jean Sharp, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Louis Corder Jr., Elkins, and David Corder, Saltsburg, Pa.; two stepsons, John Nash, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Charles Tiffner, Timberville, Va.; three stepdaughters, Gloria Nash Ciocco, Saxonburg, Pa., Martha McDonald and Delores Snelson, both of Elkins; two brothers, Garvin Corder, Montrose, and Jerry Corder, Elkins; two sisters, Betty Jo Groves and Faye Moore, both of Elkins; 11 stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Victor Leon Corder, Eugene T. Corder and an infant; and three sisters, Patty Corder, Freda Richards and an infant.
He attended the schools of Alpena and had worked as a fencing installer for the Matta Fence Co. at Pittsburgh, Pa. He attended the Believer’s Fellowship Church. He was a member of the Star Mail Carrier’s Association and was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Terry Cannon and Pastor Bryan M. Headley will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
