Merideth Ray Black 1924-2002 Obituary

Merideth Ray Black, 78, of HC 36, Box 220, Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at 8:30 a.m., at his home in Buckhannon.

He was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Trubie Run, a son of the late Rev. Elmon Black and Stella Miller Black.

On Feb. 27, 1943, he married Daisy Lea Anglin Black, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert W. Black and wife, Eula Faye, French Creek, Ricky R. Black and wife, Melba, and David M. Black and wife, Lori Black, all of Buckhannon; two daughters, Karen S. Byrd and husband, Dean, and Joyce F. Powers and husband, Benton, all of Buckhannon; one sister, Betty Lee Bailey, French Creek; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lucille Black; and twin grandsons, Eric and Derick Perry.

He was a coal miner for Upshur Coals. He was an ordained minister for New Antioch Pentecostal Church Inc. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a Pentecostal by faith.

Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tallmansville.
