Charles William Donegia, 76, a resident of Philippi, went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning, May 6, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected. He was born Tuesday, February 20, 1934 at Barbour County, WV, a son of the late Wayman Ashford and Edith Helen Mason Donegia. Preceding him in death was one son, Timothy William Donegia, one granddaughter, Jessica Lee Donegia Walters, and one sister, Georgie Carlson. Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Mabel Lina Pritt whom he married on August 1, 1955 at Mill Creek and remained devoted to for fifty-four years. Other survivors include three sons, Charles Benton Donegia, Belington, Kevin Ashford Donegia, Mingo, and Wayman Ashford Donegia and wife, Susan, Belington, two daughters, Deborah Elaine and husband Reverend Rick Cooper, Monterville and Loretta Jane and husband Rick Walters, Montrose, two brothers, Wayman “Pete” Donegia and wife, Jean, and Sherwood Donegia and wife, Sandy, all of Dayton, OH, three sisters, Betty Viar, Akron, OH, Virginia Riggs and husband, Joe, Slippery Rock, PA, and Vicki Bailey and husband, Bob, Akron, OH, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Charles had attended the schools of Barbour County, had served with the United States Air Force, had been employed by the Chrysler Corp for ten years, and had worked as a coal miner for thirty-five years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and attended the Coalton Union Mission Church. He enjoyed gardening, doing mechanic work, and going to the flea markets. He was a dedicated family man, who loved his children and grandchildren deeply. He was Christian by faith. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend, WV 26293 on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 11AM until 1 PM, the funeral hour. Reverend Rick Cooper and Reverend Tristan Tenney will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman where members of the H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military honors.
