VIRGINIA LUCILLE KISNER FRIEND 1924-2010 Obituary
VIRGINIA LUCILLE KISNER FRIEND, age 85 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, January 2, 2010 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.
She was born Saturday, May 17, 1924 at Limestone, St. George, WV, a daughter of the late Roy Kisner and Goldie Marie Auvil Kisner. On December 30, 1940 at Red House, Md., she was married to Willard Franklin Friend, who preceded her in death May 24, 2008. They celebrated sixty seven years of marriage.
Surviving are three sons, Donald Eugene Friend and wife Jan of Mineral Ridge, Oh., Terry Wayne Friend and wife Linda of Bridge City, TX, Denzil Keith Friend and companion Joan Meade of Danville, WV; two daughters, Bonnie Jean Friend and husband James A. Mays of Barrackville, WV and Cheryl Ann “Sherry” Friend and companion Jay of Elkins; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and a very dear friend who was a gift from God, Sylvia Moyer of Parsons.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one infant son; one brother, Darwin “Bud” Kisner; and four sisters, Ruth and Reva Spessart, and Jean and Juanita “Vick” Harsh.
She attended school at Limestone and was a graduate of Parsons High School. She was a cook for the White Ridge Elementary School. She enjoyed working on the election Board and she was a former employee of Kingsford Charcoal Plant. She was a former employee of Clarksburg Exponent for many years and she wrote articles for the Parsons Advocate. She enjoyed working in the garden, watching NASCAR racing and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church on White Ridge. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 11:30AM. Pastor Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Limestone Cemetery at St. George, WV.
