Gerald Douglas Karickhoff, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born on July 21, 1926 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Brennie and Jennie Louise Miller Karickhoff. On August 29, 1986 he married Bernice M. Taylor who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Brenda Smith and husband Tom and Diane Lanham and husband Darrel all of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Tiffany Smith and Kristen Lanham both of Buckhannon and Ann Marie Gonvales of TX; two great grandsons, Gavlin Smith and Hunter Lane both of Buckhannon; three great granddaughters, Maranda, Zalenia and Romantica Gonvales all of TX, one step daughter, Donna Beckner Johnson and husband Chip of Woodbridge, VA; one step son, Melvin Beckner and wife Deborah of Buckhannon; three step grandchildren Lindsay, Nicole and Michael Johnson of Woodbridge, VA; two sisters Wanda Carrico, Linda Post and husband Bennie both of Buckhannon and two brothers Gene and Donald “Tobe” Karickhoff and wife Penny both of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Ann Walker; one sister, Mildred Jean Karickhoff and one brother Richard C. Karickhoff. Mr. Karickhoff was a coal miner and a member of Buckhannon VFW Post #3663. Friends will be received Friday, October 8, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion, DAV Chapters #5 & #36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside.
