Geneva (Oldaker) Taylor, age 92, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Lowery Elzy Oldaker and Willie (Lawson) Oldaker. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Francis Beeson, and three brothers, Joseph, David and William Oldaker. Mrs. Taylor was born October 15, 1918, in Shinnston, WV. She graduated with honors from Buckhannon-upshur High School in 1936, and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College attaining a teaching certificate. After teaching in Upshur County, including the Swamp Run School, she returned to West Virginia Wesleyan at the beginning of WWII and took coursework that led to her work at Wright-patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. While in Ohio, she worked for several companies, including 3M, where she wrote technical specifications. She was visiting friends in Point Pleasant, WV, and met Roy Taylor, whom she married on April 8, 1949. They resided initially in Burnsville and later owned a farm at Walkersville, WV, before moving to Rock Cave. Both Mr. and Mrs. Taylor worked for the US Postal Service. Mr. Taylor died in 2008. Mrs. Taylor is survived by one brother, Edward Lawson Oldaker of Buckhannon; nieces, Kate Oldaker Rymeski of Portland, OR, Lisa Oldaker Palmer of Boston, MA, and Phyllis Veith of Rock Cave; and nephews, Michael Oldaker of French Creek, Steven Oldaker of Red Rock, TX, Bradley Oldaker of Weston, Philip Oldaker of Parkersburg, Joseph Beeson of Charleston and David Beeson of Jefferson, MD. Geneva had around the clock help from Diana Riffle, Helen Riffle and Phyllis Veith for the past several years. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Straight Fork United Methodist Church.
