LEECY FAY RENNIX FLANAGAN 1913-2010 Obituary
LEECY FAY RENNIX FLANAGAN, age 96 years, a resident of Hendricks, WV departed this life early Friday morning, January 8, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Friday, February 28, 1913 in Parsons, WV, a daughter of the late James French and Nora Digman Rennix.
On February 27, 1931 at Oakland, Md. She was married to Paul Flanagan, who preceded her in death in 1949.
Surviving are two sons, James Flanagan and wife Priscilla of St. George and Dennis Flanagan and wife Kay of Woodbridge, VA; three daughters, Paula Fay Currance and husband David, Sue Ann Silk and husband Terry of Hendricks and Nora Riggleman and husband Sherwood of Charleston; fifteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one son, Harper Flanagan; three brothers, Don, Dennis and Lony Rennix; four sisters, Gretchen Ferguson, Ruth Orr, Kathleen Bowley and Eileen Gillis.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1931.
She raised her six children while working at Rennix Grocery in Parsons from 1949 until 1964, when she moved to Virginia.
She was employed by the Hecht Co. in Alexandria, VA from which she retired at age 72.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Parsons.
She was a member of the original All Letter Club in Parsons and a member of the American Business Women’s Assoc. in VA.
She was an avid reader, noted cook, seamstress and loved flowers.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday from 4 until 7 PM.
Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor, Monday, January 11, 2010 at 1 PM.
The Rev. Jeff Anderson and Father Timothy Grassi will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
