DALE FRENCH CASSIDY, age 80 years, a resident of St. George, WV, departed this life Monday, March 8, 2010 at Mansfield Place at Philippi, WV.
He was born Friday, May 10, 1929 at Mill Run, a son of the late Thomas Erwin Cassidy and Rena Pearl Auvil Cassidy. On September 25, 1948 at Red House, MD, he was married to the former Wilma Jean White, who preceded him in death March 5, 2009.
Surviving are three sons, Mike, Pat and Dan Cassidy, all of St. George; two daughters, Connie Myers and Cathy Robinson, all of St. George; one sister, Vada Miner of MD; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are five brothers, Virgil, James Junior, Claude, George and William “Billy Blue” and two sisters, Violet Jones and Alberta Jones.
He attended the one room school at St. George. He attended the Pifer Mt. Church. He was a Truck Driver for the former Frazee Lumber Co. He owned and operated the Cassidy Logging Co. and the Auviltown Grocery Store and he was a farmer and an avid hunter.
Final rites will be conducted at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12:30PM. Pastor Jerry Nestor will officiate and interment will follow at the Cassidy Family Cemetery at Pifer Mountain. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Mountain Hospice, 1600 Crim Ave., Belington, WV. 26250.
