CAROL LOUISE FLETCHER ROY, age 71 years, a well known educator of Tucker County and a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Monday evening March 1, 2010 at Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.
She was born Wednesday, March 16, 1938 at Needham, MA, a daughter of the late Louis Fletcher and Ruth Newcombe Fletcher. On August 5, 1964 at Red House, Md, she was married to Hoy Ray “Pete” Roy, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Louis Chester Roy and wife Megan of Parkersburg, WV., Eric Ray Roy of Waverly, WV; one sister, Martha Appel and husband Robert of Long Island, NY; and three grandchildren, Seth Roy of Parsons, Jessica Roy and Justice Roy of Parkersburg.
She was a graduate of Needham High School with the Class of 1956. She was a graduate of Boston University with the Class of 1960. She was a Teacher for forty two years having taught in Mineral County, Parsons High School and Tucker County High, where she retired. She was an advisor of the Ohio West Virginia Hi-Y.
Mrs. Roy’s request for cremation was honored. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Sunday March 7, 2010 at 1 PM. at the United Methodist Church at Hendricks, WV. Pastor Loren Metzner will officiate. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Ohio West Virginia YMCA Hi-Y Program, PO Box 239, Point Pleasant, WV. 25550.
