MARJORIE MAXINE SHREVE BELT, age 94 years, a resident of Elkins, WV, departed this life early Monday morning April 26, 2010 at Nella’s Nursing Home.
She was born Thursday, February 17, 1916 at Farmington, WV, a daughter of the late Henry Odker Shreve and Grace Almira Shreve. She was united in marriage to Clarence O. Belt, who preceded her in death during 1980.
Surviving five sons, Robert Lee Belt, Glen Burnie, MD, The Rev. Albert H. Belt, Sr., Elkins, Clarence “David” Belt, Larry Richard Belt, and Daniel Alan Belt, all of Baltimore; two daughters, Kathrine Louise O’Donnell, VA, Retta Grace Boylen, NC; two brothers, David Shreve, Fairmont, Herman Shreve, Mononga, WV; twenty six grandchildren; forty eight great grandchildren and thirty four great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are one son, Donald Edward Belt; one daughter, Barbara Ellen Morris; three brothers, Charles Shreve, Edgar “Dick” Shreve and Odis Shreve; two sisters, Leona and Ruth “Teenie”.
She attended the schools of Marion Co. She worked for the City Hospital at Baltimore, MD as a nurse’s aide for many years. She loved to crochet and travel.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Tuesday from 4 to 6 PM. On Wednesday, Mrs. Belt will be moved to the McCully Funeral Home at Baltimore, Md., where friends will be received from 5 to 7 PM. on Wednesday. Final rites will be conducted on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 11 AM. and interment will follow. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Hospice Care, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV. 26520.
