RANDELL GENE RANDY SHAHAN 1947-2010 Obituary

RANDELL GENE “RANDY” SHAHAN, age 62 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life early Friday morning, April 23, 2010 at his home. Death was sudden and unexpected and he died peacefully in his sleep.

He was born Wednesday, April 30, 1947 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Harry David Shahan and Elloween Lough Shahan. On March 6, 1970 at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Jane Elizabeth Jones, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter; Shannon Rechelle Shahan of Parsons; two brothers, his twin, Rusty George Shahan and wife Lovanna of Pheasant Run, John David “Jack” Shahan of Mineral, VA; one sister, Aleta Ellen Snyder and husband Denny of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death is one son, Shawn Patrick Shahan, who preceded him in death May 28, 2006;

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1965, where he was a four year letterman of the Football Squad. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving three tours of duty during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He was a member of the Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills, the Operating Engineers Local 132 and for thirty four years he worked as a Purchasing Agent for The Kingsford Charcoal Company, where he retired. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Parsons. Randy was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He collected and studied arrowheads and Native American Artifacts and he was very educated on the civil war

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 11 AM. The Rev. Jeff Anderson and Pastor Allen Dale Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker Co. Veterans Assoc. will conduct full military rites.
