OTIS DENNIS POLING 1917-2010 Obituary
OTIS DENNIS POLING, age 93 years, a resident of Clover Run Road, Randolph Co, Montrose, WV, departed this life Friday evening, July 9, 2010 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins shortly after being admitted.
He was born Saturday, April 22, 1917 at Montrose, WV, a son of the late Amasa Delbert Poling and Oteria Phillips. On February 17, 1942 at Red House, Md, he was married to Emma Christina Weese, who survives. They had celebrated sixty eight years of marriage.
Surviving are one sister, Ruth Price of Warren, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are two brothers, Willie C. Poling and Opha B. Poling and infant, Edwin Poling.
He attended the schools of Randolph County. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, in North Africa and Italy and received the Purple Heart. He was a former employee of the West Virginia Dept of Highways and the Randolph Co. Board of Education, retiring as a custodian at the former First Ward School. He was an avid hunter and he was a lifelong farmer.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Monday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday July 13, 2010 at 11 AM. The Rev. John Poore will officiate and interment will follow at the Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Montrose.
