Otto McNeil “Bunk” Pennington, age 80 years, a resident of Elkins, WV went home to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, July 27, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown; following an extended illness. He was born Saturday, March 29, 1930 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Doyal Pennington and Hester Banner Pennington. He had resided in Elkins with his daughter Sheila, for the last five years. On October 27, 1952 at Cumberland, Maryland he was married to the former Charlotte Belle Lawrence Pennington, who preceded him in death June 29, 2005. Surviving are four sons: Dennis Kent Pennington and wife Sandy, Winchester, VA, Darrell Lynn Pennington and wife Janet, Hambleton, WV, Scottie James Pennington and wife, Michelle, Elkins, WV and the Rev. Eric Shawn Pennington and wife, Cammie, Athens, GA. One daughter: Sheila Faye Lloyd and husband, William, Elkins, WV, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are two sons: Sabin McNeil Pennington and Kevin Wade Pennington; and two grandchildren: Dallas Lloyd, and Ryan Lloyd, and one daughter-in-law, Cathy Pennington. He attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. He was a former employee of the Laurel Run Mine as a welder. He was a member of the Hambleton Pentecostal Church of God. A graveside service will be conducted at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Eric Pennington and the Rev. Joshua Pennington will officiate and interment will follow. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Otto McNeil “Bunk” Pennington.
