SYLVIA HELEN WHITE SUMMERFIELD 1930-2010 Obituary
SYLVIA “HELEN” WHITE SUMMERFIELD, age 80 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Sunday evening, November 28, 2010 at the Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins, WV.
She was born Wednesday, October 1, 1930 at Elk, Tucker County, WV, a daughter of the late William “Will” White and Nora Mae Nelson White.
On January 10, 1949 at Oakland, Md, she was married to Cecil Glenn Summerfield, who preceded her in death July 12, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Cecil William Summerfield and wife Roxy of Winchester, VA, Ricky Glenn Summerfield and wife Norma of Parsons; two daughters, Slona “Sissy” Bolinger and husband Lakin of Parsons, Ruby Ann Miller and husband Timothy of Holly Meadows; three sisters, Jessie Phillips of Elkins, Bessie Carr and husband Albert “Pete” and Betty Roy and husband Stelman, all of Parsons; one granddaughter, Kelly Ricketts of Winchester, VA and two great grandchildren, Kevin Summerfield and Bradley Ricketts, both of Winchester, VA.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, Edgar, Dick, Junior and Frank White; and three sisters, Dolly White and infants Grace and Minnie White.
She attended the Elk one room school at Sapplin Ridge and Parsons High School.
She was a former employee of the Tucker County Board of Education as a Cook for twenty nine years.
She loved working with her flowers, cooking, baking and she was known for making such good chili.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM.
Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:30 AM.
Pastor Allen D. Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
