BERTHA ALICE LIPSCOMB HEBB, age 95 years, a former resident of Location, St. George, WV, and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, WV, departed this life Wednesday morning December 22, 2010 at the nursing home.
She was born Thursday, June 24, 1915 at Location, WV, Tucker Co., a daughter of the late Abraham Lipscomb and Sarah Ellen Pifer Lipscomb. Her companion of many years, Elwood Hebb, preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Gracie Ellen Jones and husband Keith of Romney, WV; three grandchildren, Keith Jones, Jr., and Sharon Colebank, both of Romney and Kenneth Lee Jones and wife Melissa of Parsons; six great grandchildren, Maryanne, Shauntell, Sarah, Michelle, Haley and Natalie and two great great grandchildren, Morgan and Kenlea.
Preceding her in death are one half brother, Arthur Lipscomb and one great grandson, Michael Colebank, Jr.
She attended the one room school at Location. She was a homemaker and an in home care worker. Her hobbies included sewing, fishing and hunting. She had attended the Fairview Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 4 until 7 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:30 AM. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Lower Fairview Cemetery at Location.
