MARY (JEANIE) DORN WHITE, age 60 years, a resident of Parsons, WV and Alexandria, VA, departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday evening, December 25, 2010 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins, WV, following a sledding accident.
She was born Tuesday, November 21, 1950 in Heidelberg, Germany, a daughter of the late Col. William C. Dorn and Rita Curran Dorn. On August 8, 1969 at Oakland, MD, she was married to Ronald Lee White, who survives. They celebrated forty one years of marriage.
Also surviving are three daughters, Theresa M. Molone and husband Steve of TX, Melissa A. Rubesch and husband Tony of VA, Elizabeth C. Delaney and husband Corey of WV; three brothers, Philip Dorn and wife Dottie, Robert Dorn and William Dorn and wife Julie, all of VA; four sisters, Martha Dorn and husband John Scandling of CA, Rita Phillis and husband Bart of NC, Carmel Dorn and husband Brian Sweeney, of NY and Elizabeth Dorn of MD; five grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her father in law, William J. White and mother in law, Julia A. White.
She was a graduate of Fort Hunt High School with the Class of 1968. Jeanie served the children and the community of the Fairfax Co. Public Schools as a teacher for over twenty five years. She dedicated her personal and professional life to helping those in need. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in VA. Her interests included sewing, gardening, cooking and West Virginia Football. She always appreciated beauty found in nature. Most importantly, Jeanie understood the true meaning of family and was always a caring and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. On Friday morning, December 31, 2010, Mrs. White will be moved to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at Parsons, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. The Rev. Father Timothy Grassi will preside and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
