OBITUARY: NANCY ELIZABETH STEMPLE Nancy Elizabeth Stemple, 63, of Elizabethtown, Penn., formerly of Belington, died Tuesday, February 2, in the Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, Penn. She was born September 20, 1946, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Ray and Mary Clarice (Greathouse) Carpenter. On October 8, 1968, she was married to Lewis Wilkie Stemple, who preceded her in death on July 11, 2006. Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Davis and husband, Craig, Elizabethtown; one son, Denver Stemple and wife, Juva Charlene, Belington; one brother, James Carpenter and wife, Paula, Belington; and three grandchildren, Nathan Lewis Davis, Isaac Dayton Stemple and Carliegh Jo Stemple. Mrs. Stemple was a graduate of Alderson – Broaddus College and was retired as a teacher and certified reading specialist in the Barbour County School System. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren, the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church and the Milton Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 9, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Steven Stemple will officiate and interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery.
